Humanism over time
A memory of Lara Vinca Masini1st – 25th February 2025
opening Sunday 1st February 2025, h 5.00 pm
Opens at the Galleria Immaginaria of Florence, Saturday 1st February 2025 at 5 pm the exhibition Humanism over time – A memory of Lara Vinca Masini of the artist Carlo Cantini.
Lara Vinca Masini’s contribution to the knowledge of contemporary art is now an established fact. thanks to a movement that finds its driving force in Florence. Vinca Masini follows the experiences of the most representative, utopian and visionary radical groups in the lively Florentine cultural climate of those years. In 1980 he curated the exhibition Humanism. Inhumanism in European art 1890/1980. a transversal comparison between different artists, eras and values (or non-values).
Carlo Cantini’s homage to the great art criticism is linked to these experiences, in the sign of that Humanism in which the image spreads and regenerates thought. It is difficult to return the verae imagines. there is always a disparity between those that are photographically responsive and those that are iconologically responsive: being photographed is trying to capture an image of oneself, and in this lies Cantini’s extraordinary ability to capture the soul of the person photographed, returning something unknown to the person itself. Ultimately, the great art of photography lies precisely in capturing transitory moments and fixing them in an eternity that can no longer be changed: therefore giving eternal life to every mortal instant.
