The city of Florence welcomes three simultaneous exhibitions in April, all dedicated to the artist Karl Stengel. The three exhibitions curated in collaboration with the Academy of Arts and Design and the Stengel Collection will offer a journey through Stengel’s creative universe, from his first drawings, to his paintings to his sketches on books, exploring his different artistic facets and his its timeless impact on contemporary art.

 

  • The exhibition di SEGNO in diSEGNO, Viaggio nel laboratorio di Karl Stengel at the Accademia delle Arti e del Disegno (Academy of Arts and Drawing) in Florence, on show from 4 to 28 April 2024, will present a selection of works , among drawings on paper, from the early 1960s to the last years of work and paintings on canvas, works kindly lent by the Stengel Collection. The exhibition is accompanied by the presentation of the catalog by Camilla Paul Stengel, Stengel Collection and Galleria Immaginaria, with texts by Cristina Acidini, art historian and President of the Academy of Arts and Drawing, and Andrea Granchi, President of the Painting Class at the Academy.
  • The exhibition Karl Stengel: sinfonie astratte at the Stengel Collection in the palace Rosselli del Turco in Florence opens on Tuesday 9 April 2024 at 6.30 pm. The Collection opens the doors to his collection of abstract paintings and drawings.
  • The Galleria Immaginaria of Florence offers its tribute to the Hungarian artist on Saturday 13 April 2024 starting from 5.30 pm, with the presentation of the book Karl Stengel libro di disegno published by Ronzani (2023), with an intervention by Ivan Teobaldelli, journalist and writer, and the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Stengel’s papers, a small part of his immense collection, and to artists’ books.
