The poetic space

Walter Puppo

16th – 31st January 2025
opening Thursday 16th January, h 6.00 pm

Opens at the Galleria Immaginaria of Florence, Thursday 16th January 2025, the exhibition The poetic space of the artist Walter Puppo.

The Cells depicted by Puppo contain a cosmic void, that is, everything imaginable. The fullness of nothingness is the most fascinating aspect of existence. It’s like conceiving the infinite.
The sign for Puppo is variable and continuous; one is truly surprised by its minimal yet so flexible vocabulary on a compositional level, there are so many variations of shapes that intersect and overlap in space. Even the way of placing the shapes on the surface or even making them meet, full/empty, are examples of the ways of obtaining a manipulation, an internal dilation of space with the sign. For the artist the form is above all organic, but fundamentally circumflex, with the intrinsic strength of the circle and its infinite variations: it reacts to the pressures of the surrounding space, bringing together the outside with the inside.
There is, obviously, no narrative behind these images, nor a theoretical explanation: these are things that we do, those who sink our gaze into these games of spaces, accepting a sort of pact with the artist, who asks us to feel and not interpret.
