Five artists, five distinct voices, united for the first time in a single exhibition. Forme in dialogo – Cinque artisti catalani (Forms in dialogue – Five Catalan artists) is the exhibition that Galleria Immaginaria of Florence has organized in a double exposition.
Regular forms and volumes, graphic signs, gestures and chromatic applications, enter into dialogue with each other and with the spaces that host them, outlining a sort of journey towards abstraction.
Carmen Anzano, Sergi Barnils, Martin Carral, Lluís Cera, Lourdes Fisa are artists who display very different personal styles and different techniques. However, they are still united, not only by their common propensity towards abstract, but above all by being closely linked to their land. Although they still operate in various parts of Catalonia, they are in constant contact with the world. They do not fail to inscribe in their production traits of the identity of that area of the Iberian Peninsula surrounded by the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. For some of the artists, it is the colours that are impregnated by the brightness of the Catalan skies and by the deep dark tenor of the earth. For others, it is the signs that echo ancient primitive inscriptions or even the search for an ancient technique that is renewed. In short, it is the very spirit of the place that survives in the various proposals offered by the artists in this exhibition, giving their works an unmistakable character of identity.
