opening Saturday 23th March 2024, h 6 pm

The exhibition Dreamers of revolutions (Sognatori di rivoluzioni) of Rita Albertini opens Saturday 2nd of March at 6 p.m. at Galleria Immaginaria of Florence.

Art experienced as a tool to explore the complexity of existence and to challenge social conventions is how artist Rita Albertini lives, feels and works. Her work comes to us as a profound reflection on the nature of the human being, on his continuous search for meaning in the context of an ever-changing society. Rita herself provides an illuminating explanation of her creative process, telling us how sometimes the colours themselves seem to take over her will.
Dream and reality come together in a symphony where colour is guide and destiny and shapes tell the twisted secrets of the soul.
Rita Albertini’s works, and in particular the Rivoluzionari series, present enigmatic and mysterious figures that seem to emerge from her inner world. They are the soldiers of a kind of revolution, fighting a metaphorical war against the grotesque pantomime of everyday and media life. Witnesses of a metaphorical battle against the superficiality and artificiality of modern life. A journey of discovery and transformation, day after day, brushstroke after brushstroke, towards the dream we all have of a true revolution.
Surrealism and expressionism marry in Rita’s works, creating a unique and mysterious energy, where the brush becomes a herald of the soul and color an endless journey. In the labyrinth of her works, the Dreamers of Revolutions appear as manifesto icons of a journey of freedom.
It all stems from the power of the dream in art and in an artist’s studio, Rita Albertini’s refuge and workshop, and from her dreamy, lopsided, visionary gazes, where reality mingles with dreams, and the painting becomes the epicentre of a revolution of the soul.
