For more than thirty-five years, Anna Pennati has developed an artistic practice that has led her to engage with both the Italian and international art scenes through numerous exhibitions in museums, galleries, and contemporary art fairs. A graduate of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, Pennati has established a distinctive and coherent artistic language, one that continues to evolve over time. While acrylic on canvas remains her preferred medium, she freely explores a variety of techniques and formal approaches, allowing each project to determine its most appropriate means of expression. At the core of her practice lies the expressive power of the line: a dynamic, generative element that interacts with colour, structures the pictorial space, and defines the rhythm of the work, becoming the unmistakable hallmark of her artistic research.

Sublimation is a concept that transcends disciplines and languages, taking on different meanings while retaining a common essence: transformation, the passage into a new state of being. Art itself, in its constant process of becoming, can be understood as an act of sublimation. Anna Pennati’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in this dynamic. Her works do not merely depict images; they make visible an inner process in which the creative act releases energy and reveals profound meaning. As the artist herself writes: “Through sublimation… the work of art releases its own energy and the profound meaning it contains.” Lines without beginning or end, essential forms, and signs that evoke mysterious alphabets create a space suspended between the visible and the invisible. Her sculptures seem to strip matter of its weight, while the symbolic codes that permeate her work suggest an archetypal reality—one to be intuited rather than deciphered. The viewer is invited to move beyond the surface of the artwork and become part of this process of transformation. In this encounter between artist, artwork, and observer, sublimation is fulfilled, turning the aesthetic experience into an opportunity for deeper awareness and self-discovery.
